What is IEEE?

IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E”, stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The association is chartered under this name and it is the full legal name.

 

IEEE, an association dedicated to advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity, is the world’s largest technical professional society. It is designed to serve professionals involved in all aspects of the electrical, electronic and computing fields and related areas of science and technology that underlie modern civilization.

 

Where do I find my membership number?

Your IEEE Membership number can be obtained by signing into myIEEE and placing your cursor over your name. You will need to log in using your IEEE Account.

 

Your IEEE Membership card and your annual renewal notice also state your member number.

 

Additionally, from IEEE Home Page, you may select “Sign In” at the top of the page, hover your mouse over your name which will then open a drop down menu. Select “My Account”. Under Personalize your IEEE Experience, you can view your membership number by clicking on “Manage your personal profile” or “Membership and Subscription profile”.

What are the payment options for IEEE Membership?

Payment options for membership and renewals are as follows:

 

1) Credit Card: American Express, VISA, Master Card, Diner’s Club, Eurocard

 

2) Check: Payable to the IEEE on a bank in the USA

 

3) Money Orders: Payable on a bank in the USA

 

4) For Wire transfer details along with Domestic and International Wire Fees, please contact an IEEE Service Professional via Live Chat, 24/5, Sunday 4:30pm through Friday 4:30pm ET or submit a question to IEEE Contact Center for information.

How do I become an IEEE Member?

You can join IEEE by completing the online membership application. We offer the following membership types:

 

  • Professional Membership: For individuals who are contributing or working in a technology or engineering field.

 

  • Student/Graduate Student Membership: For individuals studying at least part time in a technology or engineering field at an accredited institution. To qualify for student rates include: School Accreditation, Type of Degree, also your start and graduation date.

 

If you do not have a credit card, please complete the online application, but choose the “Print and Mail/Fax with payment” option on the shipping page.

New members that join between 1 March and 15 August are billed at half-off the full-year membership dues, and receive membership benefits through 31 December.

How can I print a Member Certificate from myIEEE?

As an IEEE Member in good standing you can print a certificate by signing into myIEEEusing your IEEE Account. If you have not renewed your IEEE membership you will not be able to print a member certificate. You can renew your annual membership online by signing into “My Account“. The link is located at the top of the IEEE page.

 

Please refer to the instructions below once you successfully sign into myIEEE:

 

– At the top of the page hover over the “greeting”, (Hello, Your Name)

– Select “Member Certificate (PDF)”

–  Once the certificate opens, select print from your browser window
